Student Challenge: Keep your crop alive (Tamacroppi)
I explain my research on agricultural water management with easy words in different ways. The items below are ‘Easy Talks’ I am most proud of.
More food, less land and water for nature – Online Debate. I discuss with international experts the implications of the very limited gains achieved worldwide to produce more food with less water.
Divide the water – Game. I created with colleagues a game where players divide available water over the needs of cities, industries and agriculture. Is there enough for all? Part of Jordan Policy Dialogues project.
Tamacroppi – Student Challenge. I hand out crops to students and challenge them to keep their crop alive (after Tamagotchi egg game). Stimulate thinking on plant, soil, water, and atmosphere interrelationships.
Interdisciplinary Water Man – Comic. I drew myself as superhero to communicate my research plans on water, forests and agriculture.
Tidal river management Bangladesh – Documentary. I assisted dr. Dilip Datta and others in making a documentary on the beauty and complexities of tidal river management for people and river systems.
Bring in the Dutch – Interview in Vice Versa. I was interviewed and shared my ideas on exporting Dutch water knowledge to other delta regions. A little more modesty and attention for non-Dutch solutions.
Strategic delta planning – Highlights. I made with project partners a flyer to summarise research, training, and recommendations for practice.
International ambitions in the Wadden Sea – Essay. In the essay I explore the question ‘What happens when all Chinese want to visit the Wadden Sea once in their lifetime?’.
Interactive knowledge development – Youtube. Back in 2014 I explained my PhD research. I would make it shorter now, as 6:32 now seem very long to summarise the main findings of your research with visuals.
